Mia Castro is a Sculptor working in marble and metal.
She has lived all over the world: She was born in Bolivia, lives of course in northern Italy, and lived at various places in Asia, North America and South America.
Meeting all those people and diving into their cultures opened her mind to new cultures, different points of view, the meaning of life and of course the different types of sculptures that coexist.
It made her a true Cosmopolitan : All human beings, people of various ethnic, cultural and/or religious backgrounds are, or could or should be, members of a single community.
This reflects in her work : Different Materials like marble, iron, bamboo and fabric peacefully coexist and of course each of them needs a different technique. This shall symbolise the hope that the world becomes a melting pot of all our cultures, granting all of them their due respect.
Her works are about the fragility of life and the great power that Mother Earth shows in our lives and lifestyles. Nature is the only true power that makes us feel alive and let us become true human beings with heart and soul.
